The Genocide and Resistance Research Department of the Genocide and Resistance Research Center of Lithuania (Lietuvos gyventojų genocido ir rezistencijos tyrimo centras or LGGRTC, in Lithuanian) consists of two sections: the Section of Historical Research Programs and the Section of Indices of Archival Proper Names.

The Section of Historical Research Programs

The section implements research programs, prepares historical and archival certificates, gives consultations in its research fields to other state institutions, prepares the history research journal Genocidas ir rezistencija for publication, edits publications on the subjects of genocide and the resistance to the occupying regimes, and organizes conferences and seminars on issues of the genocide and resistance.

The Section of Indices of Archival Proper Names

The section works in the following areas: indices of the names of genocide victims as well as catalogues of the names of genocide organizers and perpetrators, genocide victims and participants of the resistance. It also prepares a computer database for the Lithuanian Special Archives and presents its information regarding the resistance movement participants whose names are to be commemorated as well as names of former KGB workers, political prisoners and deportees.
